Step by step: How to prepare the perfect warm salad
Follow these simple steps to ensure each ingredient maintains its optimal texture and the warm contrast is irresistible.
Preparation of the fresh ingredients
- Wash the fresh spinach and drain it well so the base remains crispy.
- Wash the strawberries, remove the stems, and cut them in half.
- Clean the asparagus shoots by removing the part toughest part of the stem and cut them into medium-sized pieces.
The finishing touch in the frying pan
- Heat a frying pan with one tablespoon of olive oil and sauté the asparagus for 4-5 minutes until tender but crispy. When finished, remove them from the pan and set aside.
- In the same frying pan, add the strawberries and sauté them for 2–3 minutes over a medium heat.
- Add the honey to the strawberries and let them caramelize slightly for 1 more minute before removing them.
- Lightly toast the walnuts in the pan for a couple of minutes to enhance their aroma.
El secreto de la vinagreta y el montaje final
- Coloca las espinacas frescas en una ensaladera y añade por encima los espárragos templados, las fresas, las nueces y el queso desmenuzado.
- Mix the remaining olive oil with balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper to prepare the vinaigrette.
- Dress the salad just before serving to enjoy its full flavor.
Possible variations: Unleash your creative side!
This recipe is so versatile that it adapts to whatever you have in the fridge. Here are three ideas to give it a different twist:
- The crunchy and salty touch: If you like the contrast of sweet with intense savory, add some diced Iberian ham or crispy bacon previously pan-fried.
- Autumn-winter version: When strawberry season ends, substitute them with ripe fresh figs or pear wedges. The caramelization process with honey works exactly the same way and looks spectacular.
- Vegan alternative: Swap the cheese for firm tofu cubes marinated in soy and pan-fried, and substitute honey with agave syrup.
Efficient cooking with Vitrinor
For recipes where textures are everything, having a good non-stick pan is essential. In our Vital range, locally manufactured in Cantabria, asparagus sautés evenly and strawberries caramelize with honey without the risk of sticking. Furthermore, thanks to its excellent heat distribution and retention, you cook quickly and uniformly while saving energy with every dish.
Tips for a perfect result
- Take advantage of thermal inertia: Enameled steel and quality aluminum retain heat. You can turn off the heat just when adding honey to the strawberries or toasting the walnuts; the residual heat will finish the job without wasting extra energy.
- Which cheese should I choose? Goat cheese adds a creamy and bold touch that melts slightly with the warmth of the strawberries. Feta cheese, on the other hand, adds a salty note and a very clean, crumbly texture. The choice is yours!
