The Doctor’s Soup
The soup that brings you back to life just when you’re convinced you’ll never get up from the sofa again. An honest, warm broth with that unmistakable “this is fixing me from the inside” feeling that only happens when certain ingredients work as a team: the gentle heat of ginger, the round comfort of chicken, the spark of turmeric, and that aromatic punch that turns a pot into a small wellness laboratory.
Time: About 1 hour
Servings: 2 or 3 (you’ll want seconds)
Difficulty: Very easy
Cookware used: Vitrinor lidded saucepan
You will need:
Ingredients
• 1 large onion
• 2 carrots
• 2 cloves of garlic
• 1 piece of ginger (thumb-sized)
• 1 teaspoon of turmeric
• 2 bay leaves
• Pepper black to taste
• 1 chilli pepper (very optional)
• 2 fillets of chicken thigh
• A splash of white wine
• Olive oil
• Salt
• Water
• Chopped coriander for serving (optional, but highly recommended)
How is it done?
Prepare the base.
Peel and cut the onion and carrots into large chunks. Season the chicken with salt and pepper.
Brown to awaken aromas.
Heat a little olive oil in your Vitrinor pot and brown the chicken thighs. Remove and set aside.
Veggies take the stage.
Add the onion and carrot with a pinch of salt. Sauté for 5 minutes.
Aromatics — the medical team.
Add the chopped garlic, grated ginger, bay leaves, and chili if you want a kick. Let everything cook a bit longer.
The wine works its magic.
Add the splash of wine and allow the alcohol to evaporate.
Time to join forces.
Return the chicken to the pot, add the turmeric, and cover with water. Put the lid on and cook over medium heat for about 45 minutes.
Blender time
Uncover, remove the chicken (you’ll shred it later), take out the chili and bay leaves, and blend the broth until you get a light but velvety soup. Adjust the salt.
The finishing touch.
Serve piping hot with the shredded chicken on top. Finish with a sprinkle of chopped cilantro.
Why does it work so well?
The “restorative effect”
It’s not magic, it’s culinary chemistry:
-
Chicken brings collagen and amino acids that help you regain energy.
-
Ginger and turmeric are natural anti-inflammatories and boost circulation.
-
Garlic and pepper support your immune system and aid digestion.
-
Bay leaf and carrot add calming aromatics and minerals.
-
Hot broth hydrates and clears your airways.
Put it all together and you get a gentle, comforting reset. When you finish your bowl you notice two things: it felt amazing… and you’re already thinking about a second helping. This soup doesn’t work miracles, but the way it makes you feel, it could easily run its own clinic.
